Friday Playlist

A pretty solid playlist this week. Two songs I’m especially jazzed about.

“ATTEMPT A CRASH LANDING – THEME” – The Twilight Sad
Kind of a pretentious title, between the name itself and the CAPS. But this song kicks ass so I’ll allow it. A proper track to kick off a playlist.

“Conflagration Mindset” – Cola
A stark, mechanical piece that sounds heavily indebted to Radiohead. Singer Tim Darcy wrote the lyrics about his experience having his home destroyed in last year’s LA fires, which makes it hit a little harder.

“Alma” – dreary
Dreary ain’t the right word for this.

“Don’t Happy Be Worry” – Dillinger Four
A perfect punk rock song title.

“Orange County” – Gorillaz
I’ve never been a huge Gorillaz fan. I enjoyed some of their early singles but did not follow them closely after that. This song, though? Tremendous and quite a change of pace. Love the whistling.

“I Know!” – Swapmeet
It’s been a few months since I shared an exciting, young, Aussie band. Itch scratched.

“All I Did Is Dream Of You” – beabadoobee featuring The Marias
My goodness this reminds me of something that I can’t quite place. I’m not sure if it’s something from the mid-Nineties (maybe a little Sneaker Pimps?) or something that Eliza Shaddad would do. Lovely song.

“Hökvind” – Les Big Byrd
WHAT AN AMAZING SONG!!! WHAT AN AMAZING BAND NAME!!!

“London Calling” – The Clash
I’ll share more details soon but we have booked our family vacation for the summer. We are going to two cities. Here’s a hint what one of them is…

“Long Way” – Eddie Vedder
I heard this song twice this week, so it seems like I was being pushed to choose it for today’s video. Somehow I had never seen this performance until last night.
