Which means these playlists are going to start including more classics. Which was my intention back when I started them however many years ago. There will still be plenty of new music if that\u2019s why you come to these posts.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Friday Playlist 5\/2\/25\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/playlist\/0kTdfdU9VJepf2zcale0k6?si=1de6fba8557f4d1e&#038;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cRock \u2019n\u2019 Roll High School\u201d &#8211; Ramones<br \/>\nWe are a week and change from having just one high schooler left in the house. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomebody New\u201d &#8211; Tunde Adebimpe<br \/>\nI said I was looking forward to his album, then didn\u2019t get around to listening to it when it came out. And now this is the best of the singles released from it, each sounding a little different.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery\u201d &#8211; Swanpalace<br \/>\nAn interesting supergroup of sorts, built around two artists most of us have never heard of along with Jim Eno, a founding member and long-time drummer of Spoon. This has a terrific, late Seventies sound. To my ears it bumps right up next to Cheap Trick.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s A Part I Can\u2019t Get Back\u201d &#8211; Sunflower Bean<br \/>\nA truly harrowing, yet beautiful, song about how grooming steals innocence from its victims. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOutside\u201d &#8211; Jawdropped<br \/>\nA hint of grunge in this jangle rock makes it stand out nicely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCutting Room Floor\u201d &#8211; Gordi<br \/>\nThese last four songs all fit into some kind of musical Venn diagram I\u2019m too lazy to clearly delineate. But Gordi sounds a lot like Christine McVie on this track, so it would pull in some Fleetwood Mac angle I guess. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMonth of May\u201d &#8211; Arcade Fire<br \/>\nThe most important month of the year in Indianapolis is here. Also, AF has new music out but I did not dig their lead single so I\u2019ll stick with this more time-appropriate oldie.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDead Souls\u201d &#8211; Joy Division<br \/>\nI know I just shared a JD song a couple weeks back, but I heard this one yesterday and had to slap it into the playlist.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"LL COOL J - Rock The Bells (Official Music Video)\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5xB727Efeo0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cRock the Bells\u201d &#8211; LL Cool J<br \/>\nTalk about mission statements! Back in the days of vinyl\/cassettes, sometimes the first track on side two was as important as the first on side one. This was Side Two, Track One on not only LL\u2019s first album, but the first full length album ever released by Def Jam. Dropping Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Prince\u2019s names seemed outrageously ambitious at the time.
