I think you\u2019re going to like this week\u2019s choices, which includes a couple special tracks.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Friday Playlist 5\/9\/25\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/playlist\/5WxuN67Zh1a107oW6EE6hJ?si=d3a4042d76e445db&#038;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlack Confetti\u201d &#8211; Bob Mould<br \/>\nHey, I\u2019m seeing Bob Mould tomorrow night! And my brother-in-music Dave V. is coming to town to join me! I\u2019m very excited to see the legend in person\u2026and Mr. Mould, too.<\/p>\n<p>It is a slight downer that Mould seems to be playing pretty much the same 27 songs each night, and there isn\u2019t a single Sugar song in the setlist. I\u2019m sure he has a reason, but as much as I admire his H\u00fcsker D\u00fc work and enjoy his 30-some years of solo efforts, I think he hit his peak in his Sugar days. A minor complaint, though. And, who knows, maybe he\u2019ll throw caution to the wind and mix things up for us good folk in Indy. I bet it\u2019s still going to be freaking awesome and I won\u2019t be able to hear for a week after.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTyrants\u201d &#8211; Sam Fender<br \/>\nAnother example of an artist releasing a pretty good song not too long after releasing a pretty good album. In this case, \u201cTyrants\u201d goes back a few years and Fender has played it live many times, but this is its first studio recording, released for Record Store Day \u201925.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRunning of the Bulls\u201d &#8211; Le Pain<br \/>\nFunny how a name and a sound can fool you into thinking a band is from somewhere far from where they actually hail from. This sister act is from LA, but they sure seem French to me. Until the guitars explode at the end, then they seem very LA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeverender\u201d &#8211; Justice with Tame Impala<br \/>\nWell this group is French. Or at least Justice is. Kevin \u201cTame Impala\u201d Parker is from Australia. Hey, you got your French electro pop in my Aussie psych rock!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReal Good Dream\u201d &#8211; Acid Dad<br \/>\nGood, spring-ish, synth pop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour Little Hoodrat Friend\u201d &#8211; The Hold Steady<br \/>\nWe\u2019ve reached the anniversary portion of this week\u2019s playlist. THS\u2019 legendary <em>Separation Sunday<\/em> just celebrated its 20th anniversary. This song blew me away the first time I heard it, and still does every time I play it to this day. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stereogum.com\/2305967\/the-hold-steady-separation-sunday-turns-20\/reviews\/the-anniversary\/\">Tom Breihan wrote a predictably great accounting of the album<\/a>. She\u2019s been callin\u2019 me again\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListen Like Thieves\u201d &#8211; INXS<br \/>\nAnd <em>Listen Like Thieves<\/em> just turned 40. \u201cWhat You Need\u201d was the bigger hit, but this is my favorite song not only off that album, but maybe from the band\u2019s entire discography.
