There are several older songs in the queue and I\u2019m trying to figure out which newer ones to pull in. Some very solid power-pop-punk from Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSimply Obsessed\u201d &#8211; Field Medic<br \/>\nIf you combined Trace Mountains and Wild Pink, but turned them into jangle pop, the result would probably sound like this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrunk Surfer\u201d &#8211; Westside Cowboy<br \/>\nThis song sounds a little more Manchester than their first single I shared a few weeks back. It also has a solid, mid-aughts sound. It isn\u2019t too different from what bands like Maximo Park, Kasabian, etc were doing back then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCry Cry Cry\u201d &#8211; King Princess<br \/>\nTwo straight weeks with a KP song, each of them with very different tones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Subway\u201d &#8211; Chappell Roan<br \/>\nI missed the whole Chappell Roan moment a couple years back. I knew of her pushback against the pressures and expectations placed on artists, but didn\u2019t know a thing about her music. Then on July 4, while listening to <a href=\"https:\/\/bridge909.org\/top-909-century\">The Bridge\u2019s Top 909 songs of the century<\/a>, I was completely blown away when I heard \u201cPink Pony Club\u201d for the first time. What a completely amazing song! It was #3 on that list, thanks to a nice local artist bump for the southern Missouri native. This is her latest single. It is very nice, but nowhere near as good as \u201cPPC.\u201d She does have a wonderful voice, though.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBleed Together\u201d &#8211; Soundgarden<br \/>\nI love it when this song pops up. The most Pearl Jam-y song Soundgarden ever recorded. I\u2019m still not convinced it wasn\u2019t recorded during the Temple of the Dog sessions with the PJ guys behind Chris Cornell. If they had released it a few years earlier &#8211; it appeared on their 1997 compilation <em>A-Sides<\/em> &#8211; it might have been a monster hit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClampdown\u201d &#8211; The Clash<br \/>\nJoe Strummer would have turned 73 yesterday. <a href=\"https:\/\/genius.com\/1372578\">Raise a toast\u2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew York Groove\u201d &#8211; HELLO<br \/>\nIt is US Open time! We were both floored by the fashion, especially guitarist Neil Schon\u2019s look. And is it just me, OR DOES HE LOOK A LOT LIKE 1979 PRINCE??? Wild, wild stuff.
