Feels like we\u2019ve reached a lull in the new music where I have a lot of B songs. Don\u2019t get me wrong, there are some decent ones in here, especially in the front half of this list. I\u2019m just saying if you get distracted and can\u2019t finish it, I don\u2019t think you\u2019ll miss anything life changing. <\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Friday Playlist 9\/5\/25\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/playlist\/0xWBvfxaNnLnv4qrJjg0GC?si=bdf5518731dd4660&#038;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeptember Gurls\u201d &#8211; Big Star<br \/>\nDecember boys got it bad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRock A Bye Baby\u201d &#8211; Jean Dawson<br \/>\nHoly 1985!!! This sounds like every song that came out that year trying to capitalize on Prince\u2019s success, or was made by a Prince-produced act. I\u2019m not complaining.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother Life\u201d &#8211; Alabama Shakes<br \/>\nAfter ten years apart, three of the four original members of Alabama Shakes are back together playing music again. This is the first new track to come from that work. Pretty solid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLose It Again\u201d &#8211; Hatchie<br \/>\nMy girl Harriette Pilbeam has a new album lined up for November. She brought in Jay Som to produce, which pushes the indie rock slider up a few notches without losing her standard dream pop goodness. I just realized I think I like that new Chappell Roan song so much because musically it really lines up with Hatchie\u2019s sound. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAct Like Your Title\u201d &#8211; Rocket<br \/>\nThis is the fourth Rocket track I\u2019ve shared over the past few months. Another sign of the modern music industry: at least four advance singles well before their album comes out. At this point I\u2019m not sure it will be worth listening to when it drops next month, as surely I\u2019ve heard all the good songs already, right?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLucky\u201d &#8211; M\u00ean An Tol<br \/>\nA big change from the first MAT song I shared, which was all noisy and distorted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEidolon\u201d &#8211; Hibou<br \/>\nI\u2019m not sure where I came across this song, as a quick search this morning didn\u2019t show it being discussed in any of the major music sites I follow. It sounds springy as hell but I\u2019m not going to sit on it for eight months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGodlike\u201d &#8211; Twen<br \/>\nStereogum described this as a \u201cbreezy, late-summer chiller.\u201d I guess that fits the moment. I\u2019ve also seen this band\u2019s name presented three different ways: Twen, twen, and TWEN.
