Close enough for me to bust out this fall classic, at least classic to me.

“Break The Girl” – Florence Road
Wonderful, bouncy track by some young ladies from Wicklow, Ireland.

“Automatic” – Spiritual Cramp
In their write up about this song, Stereogum compared this band to early ‘00s’ bands like the Killers or TV On The Radio. I hear a ton of Editors in it, who were from about the same time but a different scene.

“Spirit Of Your Friend” – Doves
Doves have a greatest hits collection coming out next month. Like all such releases, there has to be a new or lost track (or both!). This is the lost track, recorded back in 2005. I wouldn’t say it stands up with their best, but it is a Doves song, so still worth sharing.

“the one” – Gabriel Jacoby
What a fantastic, joyful song! In fact, I will insist, this track was made for a movie in the mid–80s that was never released. It sounds EXACTLY like a song that could have been in Fletch or Real Genius or any of a dozen other movies that were in high rotation on cable in the late Eighties and early Nineties. I will not accept any evidence to the contrary.

“Lie In The Fire Again” – The Berries
The Berries’ album is filled with warm, soaring jams like this.
