I imagine I\u2019ll schedule this to post on the normal Friday morning time slot. By then we will have left town about 18 hours earlier for a weekend in Colorado. I started putting this together Monday afternoon. Genuinely one of the greatest Junes I can recall, weather-wise. Which makes me nervous for what July has in store for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLovesick\u201d &#8211; Wishy<br>\nThese Indianapolis kids join the wave of bands who have adopted the retro Nineties sound. They do it pretty well, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSee Out Loud\u201d &#8211; Interpol<br>\nLast week I shared an Interpol song I said sounded like nothing they had done before. This, on the other hand, sounds exactly like what you expect an Interpol song to sound like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf You Should Turn Away\u201d &#8211; Weird Nightmare<br>\nHoly <em>Summerteeth<\/em>! This owes a lot like the title track off Wilco\u2019s classic album.<a href=\"#fn:1\" id=\"fnref:1\" title=\"see footnote\" class=\"footnote\">[1]<\/a> I mean those \u201cahhh, ahhhhs\u201d are lifted straight from it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSelf Sabotage\u201d &#8211; Eddy Current Suppression Ring<br>\n<strong>Apple Music Only<\/strong><br>\nThis band was once a big part of the underground rock scene in Melbourne. However, they had only released one album since 2009. That changed a few weeks when they dropped a surprise album. This is exactly what you expect when you hear the term \u201cAustralian Underground Rock.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCycle\u201d &#8211; Pye Corner Audio &amp; Andy Bell<br>\nI\u2019m not sure where to slot this track in, genre-wise. Certainly some synth and electro pop. But perhaps it\u2019s more of a straight-forward dance pop track with dark overtones?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRunning\u201d &#8211; COOL HEAT<br>\nThis is a classic, <em>impossible to Google<\/em> song-band combination, so I can\u2019t tell you a thing about them. Some good, early Eighties synth pop DNA here. And it goes with the next song, and that was enough to include this on a short week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Runners 2\u201d &#8211; Lightning Bolt<br>\nThis is a throw back to the late 90s, early 00s big beat, electronic wave that featured bands like The Prodigy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNice Weather For Ducks\u201d &#8211; Lemon Jelly<br>\nI like remembering songs I had totally forgotten, randomly. I did not hear this anywhere, or even read a reference to it. But it popped into my head one day while doing nothing related to ducks or water or thinking about fun, early 2000s tracks.
