Fortunately we have something on our calendar that gave me the excuse to include several songs that would not normally make the list. Genuinely one of the best songs ever written about summer. I found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/arts-entertainment\/music\/features\/the-sundays-band-today-b2681675.html\">this article from about 18 months ago<\/a> about the disappearance of this great band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBlack Sage\u201d &#8211; Mystery Jets<br>\nAn absolutely triumphant piece of heavy pop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cElection Day\u201d &#8211; Lily Seabird<br>\nNamed for the day on which Seabird wrote it, this track is about the ramifications of making important personal decisions, not picking a candidate to support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHere Comes\u201d &#8211; knitting<br>\nThis has more of that currently popular <em>retro mid\u201390s<\/em> sound than their first song I shared with you a while back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMoving After You\u201d &#8211; Hurry featuring Gerard Love<br>\nThis one is loaded with early Nineties, jangle pop vibes, reminiscent of the Gin Blossoms, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and maybe a touch of The Posies? But I missed the clearest influence: Teenage Fanclub. I missed it because I\u2019m not super familiar with TF\u2019s work. Apparently Hurry lead Matt Scottoline has been heavily influenced by TF his entire career. He wrote this song with TF lead singer Gerard Love in mind and turned it into a duet when Love agreed to sing with him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWho\u2019s Gonna Love You Now\u201d &#8211; The Tubs<br>\nNot The TUBES, but The TUBS. If Bob Mould was from London and he was influenced by The Jam, his music might have sounded like this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEmotionally Unavailable\u201d &#8211; The London Suede<br>\nSuede (London Suede here) just released an expanded edition of last year\u2019s excellent <em>Antidepressants<\/em> album. This is the single that came with it, another terrific track from the third? fourth? act of their career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBhindi Bhagee\u201d &#8211; Joe Strummer &amp; The Mescaleros<br>\nI already used the super obvious Joe Strummer to announce our upcoming trip. This celebration of the melting pot modern London has become seems like a fine song to share before our departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGive Ireland Back To The Irish\u201d &#8211; Wings<br>\nI have a lot of problems with this song.
