This is one of those good ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMMA\u201d Hannah Cole<br>When I read that Cole was based in Nashville, I was expecting something that was softer and gentler, closer to indie folk. I was NOT expecting a chugging, mid-90s-esque rocker like this. I\u2019m happy to be surprised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy Own Beauty\u201d &#8211; Pouty<br>Dude, speaking of the mid-90s. I\u2019m not sure if the lead singer of this band sounds like someone specific, or sounds like a generic style half a dozen singers from that era had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAppetite\u201d &#8211; Lifeguard<br>I honestly can\u2019t believe this band is from Chicago. They sound super Australian to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNobody\u201d &#8211; Computerwife<br>This reminds me of\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCool\u201d &#8211; Deerhunter<br>\u2026this 2011 cover of a 1979 post-punk classic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSorry Mister\u201d &#8211; Disgusting Sisters<br>I wish I head heard this a week earlier. It would be a nice pairing with <a href=\"https:\/\/dsnotebook.me\/index.php\/2026\/07\/31\/friday-playlist-405\/\">Getdown Services\u2019 \u201cCha Cha Slide.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll Alone Again\u201d &#8211; Jack White<br>It\u2019s taken some time, but I finally have a favorite track off the latest JW album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSun Has Set\u201d &#8211; beabadoobee<br>Not quite to the end of summer, but the sun is setting noticeably earlier and kids are cycling back to school. It goes too fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSomeone Somewhere (In Summertime)\u201d &#8211; Simple Minds<br>On the one hand, I\u2019m thankful that some AI company\u2019s commercial gave this track a second life. I\u2019ve been doing some music catalog cleanup<sup class='footnote' id='fnref-17489-1'><a href='#fn-17489-1' rel='footnote'>1<\/a><\/sup> and noticed this song was greyed out on Apple Music. Somewhere, somehow, their license for it had expired. I pulled out the hard drive holding my old iTunes catalog, found the file, and imported it. Alas, I cannot share that with the rest of the world online. So I figured I\u2019d include the video, even if it just shows the album cover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyway, this lovely track is from back in 2005. The file I have was recorded off good, ol\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/WOXY.com\">woxy.com<\/a>. Because of how the app I used to record their stream worked, I even got about a minute of DJ chatter before it started a new file for the next track.
